“I was recently introduced to Shakshuka for the first time. It’s a scrumptious North African dish of eggs poached in slowly simmering tomatoes, onions, and peppers and seasoned with garlic, paprika, and cumin.
My wife and I were overjoyed to find another reason to use our bright red Moroccan tagine when we prepared this dish for breakfast. Serve with crusty bread and you’ve got a very satisfying one-pot breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
Basic Shakshuka sauce can also be served over pasta, on pizza, or as a crostini topper. Think of it as an “everything sauce” that can also serve as a foundation for a wide variety of proteins and vegetables.
