Getting vegetables from secret sources
When it comes to getting healthy, most people know the first place to start is diet – and that means eating more vegetables.
And while kids usually take the rap for turning their nose to greens, there are plenty of adults who could stand more plants in their diet.
But there is no need for consumers to resort to boiled brussels sprouts and dry spinach.
Food brands are increasingly incorporating vegetables in unique and creative ways, and U.S. News & World Report marks the movement as one of the top seven trends to follow in 2017.
Home cooks are in on the trend, too, with countless new ways to incorporate vegetables, beans and other nutritional powerhouses in not-so-veggie-like dishes.
And with the Centers for Disease Control reporting that only 1 in 10 Americans are eating enough vegetables, there’s interest in consuming veggies that take on the appearance of other more snack-able forms.
