At KeHE®, we’re proud to spotlight team members who bring passion, dedication, and care to our community. This month, we’re featuring Norma Patterson, Human Resources Shared Services Sr. Specialist, who works remotely. Over the past 30 years, Norma has embraced new challenges, supported countless colleagues, and contributed to making KeHE a great place to work, one built on compassion, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Q: What inspired you to join KeHE, and what was your first impression of the company?

A: When I joined the company, it was called Gourmet Award Foods. We were later acquired by Tree of Life and then by KeHE. My first impression of the company was how strongly the Core Values stood out to me; they reflected a culture that truly cared about people and doing the right thing.

Q: How has your role evolved during your time at KeHE, and what lessons have you learned along the way?

A: My role has evolved in a big way, from starting in the mailroom to moving into Human Resources, then Sales, and eventually joining the HR Shared Services team. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to embrace opportunities that challenge me beyond my comfort zone. Each new challenge has helped me grow and find new ways to contribute.

Q: Can you share a standout memory or experience at KeHE that holds a special meaning for you?

A: One memory that stands out the most is participating in a Feed My Starving Children service event at the DFW Distribution Center. It was an incredible experience to see employees come together to help those in need. Witnessing the joy it brought to so many faces is something I’ll always remember.

Q: What opportunities have helped you grow personally and professionally during your time at KeHE?

A: Learning new systems and collaborating with different teams have helped me grow professionally by strengthening my skills and versatility. On a personal level, these experiences have helped me become more confident and resilient, qualities that carry over into every part of my life.

Q: What changes at KeHE have made the biggest impact on you, your work, or the company culture?

A: The continuous focus on improvement has made the biggest impact on my work. We’re always looking for ways to make things better for our customers and our employees, which inspires me to keep learning and evolving.

Q: How have your colleagues and the KeHE community shaped your experience?

A: I feel blessed to be part of the KeHE family. Every manager and supervisor I’ve worked with has been incredible, always available to listen, supportive, and willing to share their knowledge.

I also feel lucky to work with such great colleagues who care deeply about the impact of our work. Teamwork and compassion are what make KeHE so special.
