Among the many who’ve helped build and sustain that momentum over the years is Mike Hetrick, a delivery driver based out of DC 16 in Ellettsville, Indiana, who has been with KeHE for nearly 31 years. In that time, he’s done more than just transport products from point A to point B. He’s helped keep our shelves stocked, our partners served, and our communities nourished. Along the way, he’s built lasting relationships, adapted through change, and made an incredible impact on those around him. His story reflects the strength, loyalty, and heart that drive our KeHE family forward day in and day out.
Q: What inspired you to join KeHE, and what was your first impression of the company?
A: I was looking for a stable job where you would not be away from home weeks at a time. And once I got to know the people and how we operate, I knew this was the place for me.
Q: How has your role evolved during your time at KeHE, and what lessons have you learned along the way?
A: As a driver, I had many senior drivers show me how to be a professional driver, and now as a driver trainer, I try and pay that knowledge forward to our new hires.
Q: Can you share a standout memory or experience at KeHE that holds a special meaning for you?
A: Being inducted into the truck drivers’ hall of fame in 2021.
Q: What opportunities have helped you grow personally and professionally during your time at KeHE?
A: KeHE has grown with me over the years, and being part of a team has helped me grow as well in my home life.
Q: What changes at KeHE have made the biggest impact on you, your work, or the company culture?
A: When we started purchasing liftgate trailers, it showed me that KeHE was also looking at driver safety and longevity.
Q: How have your colleagues and the KeHE community shaped your experience?
A: 31 years ago, I was looking for a job. I found a career instead. As I look back I’m proud of all we have accomplished and excited of what lies ahead of us.
