At KeHE®, we’re proud to celebrate team members whose dedication, growth, and collaborative spirit help drive our business forward every day. This month, we’re excited to feature Steve Zbikowski, a Growth Solutions Manager supporting the Albertsons business, working remotely from Ankeny, Iowa.

With 12 years at KeHE, their journey reflects a deep commitment to continuous learning, strong relationships, and a passion for making an impact—both within the organization and in the communities we serve. From starting in Pricing to taking on broader, strategic responsibilities, their story is a testament to growth through curiosity, adaptability, and teamwork.

Q: What is your current position, and which KeHE location do you work at?

A: I am currently a Manager on the Growth Solutions team supporting our Albertsons business. I work remotely from Ankeny, Iowa, part of the Des Moines metro area.

Q: How long have you been with KeHE, and what inspired you to join the company? What was your first impression?

A: As of Fall 2025, I’ve been with KeHE for 12 years. Prior to joining, I spent four years in grocery retail and was looking for a change that would allow for a more balanced schedule. My sister had been working at KeHE for just over a year and shared very positive experiences, which encouraged me to explore opportunities here.

At the time, the Pricing team was growing, and I was fortunate to join. From the start, I was impressed by the company’s professionalism and strong drive for success, while still maintaining a down-to-earth, people-first culture. There was a clear sense of teamwork and a “family feel” that made it easy to feel connected and supported.

Q: How has your role evolved during your time at KeHE, and what lessons have you learned along the way?

A: My role has evolved from executing assigned tasks to taking on broader responsibilities that include forward-thinking, identifying opportunities for innovation, and collaborating cross-functionally to drive results at a higher level.

Over the years, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the business and have been able to contribute in more meaningful ways. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of building strong relationships and maintaining clear communication. I’ve also learned that staying agile, curious, and open to feedback is essential for both personal and professional growth.

Q: Can you share a standout memory or experience at KeHE that holds special meaning for you?

A: KeHE Cares has always been a significant source of pride for me. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in several initiatives—from grilling burgers at the Breakthrough Ministries block party in Chicago, to supporting New Vision in Laredo, to spending time with children during a serving trip in Haiti.

These experiences have been incredibly meaningful, not only because of the impact we’re able to make in communities around the world, but also because they’ve allowed me to connect with colleagues from across the organization in ways I otherwise wouldn’t have.

Q: What opportunities have helped you grow personally and professionally during your time at KeHE?

A: Opportunities to take on new challenges, collaborate across teams, and learn from experienced colleagues have played a key role in my growth. Being trusted with increased responsibility and receiving consistent feedback has helped me develop both professionally and personally.

Each new experience has pushed me to expand my skill set and grow in confidence.

Q: What changes at KeHE have made the biggest impact on you, your work, or the company culture?

A: One of the most impactful aspects of working at KeHE has been our ESOP program. Being part of an employee-owned company truly shapes how we approach our work.

When we reached 100% employee ownership, it strengthened the collective sense of accountability and connection across the organization. It created an even deeper level of investment in our shared success and long-term future.

Q: How have your colleagues and the KeHE community shaped your experience?

A: Collaboration has been a constant in every role I’ve held at KeHE, and success has always been a team effort. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside teammates who challenge my thinking, bring diverse perspectives, and continuously inspire me to improve.

What stands out most is the shared commitment to both the work and to one another. We celebrate wins together, share best practices, and stay aligned around a common mission. That sense of community makes the work we do even more meaningful and rewarding.
